Most recently I've been watching fansubs for most of the anime. Fansubs are animes that have been subtitles by fans and it is shared through the internet. It's kind of like advertisement. If you happen to buy or rent a fansub, get your money back. Those are meant to be free. Fansubs are mostly anime that haven't been imported officially to other countries.
License anime is anime that has been imported by a company that does subtitles and voice dub language for that country for the anime. But once an anime is imported to a country, lets say USA, all sharing of Fansubs must stop because it hurts profit.
